3D Printed giant tree
The idea is to use 3D printing to create interior for a mall or a shop that looks like parts of a giant christmas tree.
Description
Parts of a tree and christmas decoration can be scanned with a 3D scanner and then scaled up in a slicer program for printing. Alternatively they can be designed with CAD. Best would be to use a huge printer, but also common 3D printers could be used to create parts that can be fit together like a 3D puzzle. After printing, the parts can be modified concerning the surface, depending on the used kind of plastic. ABS Plastic can be chromed, and you can use filler and high gloss paint for PLA, maybe with metallic effects, for finishing the other parts. To empower the feeling of being inside a christmas tree odour spray that smells and tastes like candles, sweets and fir can be sprayed on the objects. Another option is to bring in the aroma when the filament for the 3D printing is extruded. Even recessed parts can be printed, this makes customers curious and you can put objects for sale inside giant christmas bulbs for example. The use of 3D printing offers many options to integrate light effects. LEDS should be preferred because of minor heating. Many of the materials that would be needed are already on the market available. For the boughs wood filled filament and for the needles flexible filament, for light carrying parts flame retardant filament, for different decoration in the dark self glowing filament and so on. Using only thermoplastics enables you to recycle all the parts when there is no need for them anymore.
